You can also use a TV Lift Kit to hide your TV at the end of the bed, so you can have a hidden TV in your bedroom.

TV Lifts are among the top hot items when it comes to design and home entertainment. There are times when you don’t want to have your TV on display, as it affects the look and feel of a room. There is also the situation where your space is too crowded to have a TV constantly in view. A TV Lift is the perfect solution; a useful piece of furniture as well as storage and display of your TV.

You can buy a pre-made TV Lift cabinet, you can get a professional cabinet maker to build you one, or you can build one yourself.

To build a TV Lift

You need the following components:

linear actuators
A linear actuator is a linear motor used to push the TV up and pull it down. You can use linear actuators for countless projects. Anytime you need to move or lift an object. Great for home automation projects!

mounting brackets
You will likely need one or two mounting brackets to connect your linear actuator to the cabinet and the TV mount.

guide rails
Guide rails are needed to stabilize the TV as it goes up and down. Linear actuators are not meant to handle non-axial loads.

remote control or switch
You can either use a remote control to wirelessly raise and lower your TV, or you can install a rocker switch in a discrete location to do this.

power adaptor
Most linear actuators run off 12V DC. You need a transformer able to provide at least 4-5 Amps of current.

gas spring (optional)
You can use a gas spring to remove or balance some weight in the system. This allows you to use a faster linear actuator. Typically speaking, the faster the actuator the less weight it can lift. This is basically a function of the gear ratio, you trade speed for force.

Universal TV Mount
You need a something to connect the TV to your lift.

… and a bit of ingenuity and DIY initiative. Have confidence, but remember to spend time planning. Best to go over your plan a few times looking at ways to improve it.
